It was not long before we were running the big water of the Alaknanda River.

The girls were loving it, so very different to the Chandra River.

Es dauerte nicht lang, bis wir auch schon im wuchtigen Wildwasser des Alaknanda unterwegs waren.

Die Mädls hatten jede Menge Spass mit dem, im Vergleich zum Chandra, doch recht anderen Flusscharakter.

With only one day left this year for the Lower Lech Gorge it could not have been better planned!




Blue skies, warm weather and a great water level gave us the perfect opportunity to make our final run for 2011.




The Lech Gorges are world class, not so well known outside of the German speaking kayaking community they are well worth the drive to come and kayak.

After a few days in Kathmandu taking in the atmosphere, surroundings and a few sights we headed down to the Trishuli River to meet up with an old friend Ram and his new family.

CHILE....

Anfang Jänner schaffte ich es ein paar Wochen von meinem Job (Skiservice) in St. Anton frei zu nehmen und nach Chile abzuhauen.  Schon seit einigen Jahren war es mein Traum nach Chile zum Kajaken zu fliegen und es war genau so lässig, wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte!

Right at the beginning of January I managed to get some time off from servicing skis in St Anton to head to Chile.  I had been dreaming of Chile for many years and it really did not disappoint!

With our kayaks stashed from the previous days adventures it was a nice mellow walk down to the start of the lower Section.


This Section of the Lech Gorges has some of the best whitewater in Austria.  The action comes thick and fast with some cracking drops, boofs, slides and all set in one of of the most picturesque gorges!

It has been 5 years of planning, scouting, checking the seasonal river levels and finally this July the boys dropped into the Rosanna Gorge in St Anton am Arlberg.  St Anton is famed for its hardcore skiing and backcountry routes but for a bunch of local kayakers it was the gorge that has been working away at them.

The Upper Palguin is a classic, a bunch of drops in a little gorge with beautiful water.  It is just 20 minutes from the centre of town!!

I arrived in Santiago with the temperature at 31 degrees and clear blue skies.  David picked me up from the airport and after having lunch at his in-laws house we packed and got ready to head south to Pucon.

2 hours later we reach Aquaterra's Camp, Silversands.

The snows had arrived early, we could not kayak the Upper Indus due to there being no water. The put in at Mahe was just below the snow line! We even had to wait a few days for the passes to open!!Nobby arrived, we hired our Royal Enfield Bullets and then waited for 4 days for the rain to stop!! A journey down the Grand Canyon of Asia, the Zanskar River. After running this last year solo, it was the perfect expedition for the two of us. So off we went down this amazing canyon for 4 days of river running..

 
 

The canyon is absolutely unreal, with the river running its highest for some considerable time we had big waves to hit, a couple of holes to avoid and some interesting boils....
