We had some fantastic water levels here in Austria at the start of Summer, the sun was out and the temperature was finally rising.
The Landeck Gorge was pumping and the Loisach in Bavaria also had a good level.
The Rosanna is our home river and it just kept on giving and with a sweet spot to learn how to creek the days were spent boofing, flaring and getting used to the steeper side of kayaking.
The mountain scenery is pretty breathtaking too!
A couple of rainy days saw the Rosanna back at melt conditions - it is such a fast and steep alpine river.
The Toesens Gorge was also giving us some great waves to punch and plenty of big and bouncy whitewater action.
Our local lake was proving to be a popular spot with plenty of walkers and bikers stopping to take photos.
However, it was not long until the sun was back out..
It was also cool to see more and more locals wanting to try kayaking. It is strange to think that we have some of the best whitewater the Alps has to offer on our doorstep but hardly any locals kayak!
I also managed to meet up with Ludwig again this year and a quick mission to the Upper Oetz, then a cruise down the Lower Oetz and a good night talking about past adventures in Peru and making a plan for Ladakh in a few years.
The days were now being spent eating, sleeping and kayaking.
Even the cows high up in the mountain pastures were happy and very content!
Some classic Austrian big water kayaking on the River Inn
The farmers houses were now in full bloom
This was just part 1 of our Summer here in Austria, part 2 will be arriving very shortly.
