Early Spring and a trip to Slovenia..

Ute and I headed from our home in Austria to the Soca River in Slovenia for a few days of testing kayaks and of course with a fresh delivery of our kit from Peak UK this coming season it would be an ideal opportunity to show off our new colours!!

The Soca Valley is a great place with friendly locals, good food and cheap coffee!!  We have been coming here since 1999 and not that much has changed over the years.  The river is absolutely stunning and with different sections for all levels of kayakers it is a perfect way to warm up for the forthcoming season in the Austrian Alps.

We organised our boats through Pietro and Sabine at Alpin Action and with a great range of whitewater kayaks to choose from we put them to the test.  Based close to the slalom section of the Soca we managed to do plenty of laps in each boat over the coming 4 days.
It must also be said that Alpin Action has a fantastic array of Peak UK gear in their shop!!

After a great 4 days of testing boats, eating traditional Slovenian food and drinking plenty of coffee we headed back home to Austria with a plan and newly ordered kayaks.

Here is to a great season of Alpine kayaking and if you want to know what kayaks really impressed us and what we ordered then check out our website…
